PROJECT.H VOL.1 : YASUHIKO SASAKIVol.1 YASUHIKO SASAKI
SASAKI was raised at a seaside town in Iwate prefecture and dreamed of F1.
His wish came true and he engaged in racing car activity for 10 years.
Then,he gained experience of welding in ASANO Co., Ltd. for 7 years.
As a member of ""Visualization of techiniques"" project pf scale model of F1 car manufacturing.
his experience in racing car and welder as finisher, bears fruit.
Let's share his care about manufacturing that makes his dream come true.
calculate the slight difference
fun to realize indeal dimensions
" "Aluminum and carbon are the main materials that are used in this project. These 2 materials are often applied to car body, aluminum at F4 and carbon at F3. SASAKI, who is in charge of welding, assembly of aluminum and positioning process with carbon, is familiar with them from a long time ago.
But this time, the size is bigger than 1 m and there are a lot of welding portions around the monocoque. He can work at free position rotating jigs for semi mass production motorcycles, but this time he forced to work at unfavorable position.
First he gets dimensions to epitomize vital points such as order of welding and order of jigs.He must calculate so as to process the parts as he imaged, considering the distortion by contraction at welding area. And distortion slightly varies in summer and in winter due to temperatures. That’s why addition and subtraction of welding are required.
With instinct that was formed through gaining experience, and attempt of work that was grown at maintenance of racing car*5, he tried to size in full blast. He could size as he planed, as he gave his opinions to the design.SASAKI tells that he is happy when his expectation proved right. In this way, welding, though it is in the later stage, plays a role of shadow commander that supervises all stages including design. He advanced the project requesting cooperation to the other sections when the parts strength is not enough. His fellows met his request willingly though they had works on hand.
SASAKI finished off the parts beautifully only by his judgment under the situation that no failure was excused. The rest is adjustment to carbon parts.
“What is your future dream?” I asked him and he answered “I want to make some scale models with drive systems and race in circuits”.SASAKI seemed as if he were in junior high school days when he talked so.
